National Programs

We provide quality management services for the following national* programs

*Except California

Through the True North Quality Management Services (TNQMS) brand, we offer a full-service quality management oversight for the Energy Rating Index (ERI), as calculated by ANSI/RESNET/ICC 301. This can be used to certify projects for code compliance, above-code programs, and others. Our software partner uses National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s (NREL) EnergyPlus OS-ERI calculation engine.

CO2e Rating Index

A new addition to the ANSI/RESNET/ICC 301 Standard, the CO2e Rating Index is an hourly-based calculation that shares the same foundation as the ERI calculation. The key difference is the metrics are tied to site emissions, published by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). It can be used for ESG reporting purposes, and with BSI, the results are generated by NREL’s own calculation engine.

The ENERGY STAR New Homes and Apartments program has been the standard bearer of energy efficiency for decades. Dwelling units certified as ENERGY STAR are more comfortable, have reduced callbacks, and, most importantly, save homeowners money on their energy bills. BSI is proud to be a national EPA-recognized ENERGY STAR Home Certification Organization, a stringent standard that we are only the second organization to be recognized as such.

Indoor airPLUS

Indoor airPLUS

A construction specifications-based program, it guides builders to craft a home with better indoor air quality (IAQ), ensuring reduced pollutants from paints, building materials, and more. Verifiers under BSI provide additional oversight on the materials used, mechanical ventilation, and the HVAC system.

Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH)

Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH)

The Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH) Program uses the foundation of the ENERGY STAR New Homes and Apartments program, but has additional requirements. These requirements help make the dwelling unit more efficient, to the point that a photovoltaic/solar system could offset the annual energy use.

Local & Regional Programs

Our Verifiers can provide certification activities for the following local and regional programs.
