Brian Christensen

Building Science Representative

Brian Christensen has worked in the field of residential building science for over 20 years, applying his background in physics and mechanical engineering. Of that, roughly a decade was dedicated to fieldwork — providing ratings, ENERGY STAR certifications, diagnostic and consulting services, and eventually LEED for Homes Midrise certifications. He helped start and lead a Best Practices committee for Colorado raters.  He experienced the realities of co-owning a small rating company and managing the quality processes there.  After pushing the limits of HERS rating software tools, he went to work for one, eventually leading the software team producing and maintaining a widely used code-compliance and RESNET®-accredited HERS Rating software tool. At the same company, he also served as a Quality Assurance Designee for LEED for Homes.

He remains active in multiple areas of the home performance industry, including serving on various working groups and committees addressing technical issues. A notable example is the RESNET® Software Consistency Committee, which is working to achieve consistent results across multiple competing accredited software tools. Today, Brian continues to work on software products that aim to serve the unique needs of home performance verification businesses.
